Elected Designer of the Year by GQ in 2012 and by Maison & Objet in 2007, Duchaufour-Lawrance’s most renowned works include the Sketch restaurant in London or Paco Rabanne’s fragrance 1 Million’s bottle. For this edition of Le Cabinet de Curiosités, he partnered with French design manufacturer Petite Friture to design a chair.

The Market chair is inspired by the structures and the wood slats of market stalls, with markets being one of the last few places where people from different social background meet and interact in cities and villages. Markets also bring producers and consumers to interact directly with each other, and these places still survive in spite of how our society is evolving. Their existence remind us of our need for communication, encoun- ters, exchanges and simplicity.
