Astier de Villatte’s design team have created their first ever black candle, ‘Berlin’ - a limited edition item for Thomas Erber’s celebrated Cabinet de Curiosités. This exceptional candle is presented in a terracotta goblet with a black wax outer and white enamel interior. The natural vegetable wax, without paraffin or petrochemical by-products, has a uniquely soft and delicate texture and the braided cotton wick ensures up to 45 hours of even burning.
Combining subtle acid notes of bergamot, star anise and cardamom with a woody chord for gentle warmth and a wisp of newly-mown grass and sea mist, this light, fresh aroma, designed in collaboration with Françoise Caron and her team of perfumers at Takasago, evokes the cold purity of the North wind and the verdant, tree-lined avenues of Berlin’s parks, so cherished by her inhabitants.
