Tina Roeder presents a unique piece of furniture for Thomas Erber’s Cabinet de Curiositiés at Andreas Murkudis. "Blue Leather Shelf" is an extended version of the skintone leather shelf, that was presented in Basel this June. The color blue is chosen since blue is considered to be the furthest away from skin tone, as used in blue screen projection. Once more the piece is inspired by architecture and its underlying societal and aesthetical structures, taking local inspiration from the architectural history of East-West-Berlin, particularly Karl-Marx-Allee and the Hansaviertel, rich in visions and utopias.
"Blue Leather Shelf" celebrates both Tina Roeder's skills of a craftsman and precision of an industrialist. Its splendour lies in its exquisite geometry seamlessly crafted over 106 hours, producing the delicate steel structure mantled with blue leather.
