Betony Vernon's "Second Skin" collection is composed of a series of sterling silver objects that are designed to literally embrace various parts of the body-including the hips, the feet, the shoulders and in this case, the hand. Inspired by the handles of ancient Japanese swords, Betony created this one-of-a-kind "Second Skin with Swirling Leaves" especially for the Cabinet de Curiosités. The object empowers the wearer by instilling them with a distinct sense of protection, and therefore strength.
