375 Jacket: The Lightest

Navy wool silk, Mother of Pearl
Edition of 4

Officine générale is the brainchild of designer Pierre Mahéo, a tailor’s grandson, dedicated to elegant and ethical French menswear. Years of experience within large commercial fashion ventures saw Mahéo reject conventions and pursue his own path to excellence; sourcing the highest quality, small-scale production he could find, allowing him to make quiet, contemporary men’s classics in superior Japanese, British and Italian fabric at the right price. His designs breathe the nonchalant, laidback Rive gauche spirit of the arty Parisian man – confident and undone, the building blocks of a timeless wardrobe flying high above trends.

“375 Jacket : The Lightest” is a tailored suit jacket, cut in the lightest 150’s summer suit fabric in a blend of 85% wool and 15% silk from Loro Piana. The two- button style is dark navy and textured with a hopsack weave, featuring patch pockets and grey Mother of Pearl buttons. The blazer’s true marvel, however, is its featherweight design; it weighs in at a mere 375 grams, its unlined form perfectly suited to the warm Thai summer nights. “knowing that the weather can be hot and sticky in Bangkok, I thought that it would be an interesting exercise to create the lightest possible jacket from the lightest wool weave for the Cabinet de Curiosités!” explains Pierre. And that, in all honest simplicity, is what he did.
